  • Better Luck Next Time

If every Lubavitcher in Crown Heights who was eligible to vote would have voted for Raitport. Raitport would have won.

  • Reitport - Will Win Next Time

Mendy – See how many votes you have.
Hikinds guy got none from our community -he is worthless.
    Greenfield also a loser.
We all lost because of Machlokes.
    Moshiach Now!

  • We have much more than 4000 votes...

if only people would come out…
now dont complain about school tuition etc when you can get yourself to walk in for a few minutes to give a chance to reforms.
    what a shame

  • yakov

i hope all the suckers up to Adams and his crew that endorsed the senile Patterson are happy that Mendy came in 3rd and not 2nd. Mamosh a bizayon.

  • Chaim

A shame we couldn’t put together 4,000 votes.

All those that (a) voted for another (b) stayed home and did nothing, shame on you all.

This could have been a real united front.

Whatever! Who wants to watch a Rebbe video for an hour on Eastern Parkway? True unity, anyone?

  • Sara Chana

Super Close! Great Job Mendy! Next time you will be a winner! The community will just have to unite behind you, every person will need to leave the comfort of their homes and walk to the poles (it will not only help you win, but most of the community needs the exercise!).

  • Let this be a lesson to all of us

    That we must be united

    (T)ogether w(E) (A)chieve (M)ore

  • Gerrymandering

got to work to get all of CH Jewish areas in the same district. Was ready to get out and vote for Raitport, but I’m not in the 43rd.
    Next time!

  • mendy raitport

Will most probably do better in selling chickens. But thanks for running anyway. G-d bless you mendy.

  • #7 u r a chutzpenyak!!!

you lose and you go against your own. shame on you

    • Chaim

      Please explain your comment.

I didn’t lose anything. I did what i was supposed to do, i voted!!!!

  • apathy

It is called apathy. Is that all we could put together (1,600 votes)? Shame on us. We all need to wake up already

  • Hikind - don't forget!

Everyone, please don’t forget the sheer arrogance of this politician, and what he did.

  • Shameful !!

Now it is clear that we are no longer a voting bloc, and
that is the only thing that made politicians consider our needs. Shame on everyone that did not come out and vote, including the many young people that live in the community. Shame on the young men who siphoned off votes from Mendy Raitport and think they
    know what they are doing.

  • There is a boss

We simply don’t have the votes to put a guy in by ourselves we need to align with the right candidates berman was right if he woke up a month ago, after Raitport spent a few weeks publicly getting support you can’t walk in a few days before the election and expect everyone to vote against a yid.

  • Shimon Shak

A few pointers for next time:

    1. Coordinate with the hanchala of 770/Kollels to register all of the bochurim/yungeman with American passports to vote (+100-200 votes)

    2. Speak at more events/shuls. Everyone knew you were running but people weren’t excited about it.

    3. Reach out to the non-Jewish community. 2/3 of your constituents would be people that don’t need school vouchers…find ways to relate to them with your platform without alienating your Jewish voters.

There must be a way to beat a candidate that got 4k votes living in a district with 5k registered Jewish voters.

    • yakov

no one will be beating ms. richardson shell be the incumbent with Dem party support next time, the “youngsters” blew it for an entire generation. the city council geographic area is double the assembly so there is ZERO chance we can get that one.

    • Shimon Shak

Looking into it now he probably should’ve pulled a Simcha Felder!! Get onto the ballot as a democrat…get the Jewish vote and the democrat vote and 2 days after winning the election inform your democrat cronies that you will be caucusing with the republicans in the assembly.

  • To number 8

The poles are far..to walk to both North and South Poles from CH is h-a-r-d just to cast a ballot. Or maybe there is no limit to Ahavas Yisroel?

If every Lubavitcher who was eligible to vote in Crown Heights since 2005 would have united behind Mendy Raitport.

Then Mendy Raitport would have been a Winner

    • Lincoln lost more often at first

      This is from:
      http://www.rogerknapp.com/inspire/lincoln.htm

      Abraham Lincoln Didn’t Quit

Probably the greatest example of persistence is Abraham Lincoln. If you want to learn about somebody who didn’t quit, look no further.

Born into poverty, Lincoln was faced with defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown.

He could have quit many times – but he didn’t and because he didn’t quit, he became one of the greatest presidents in the history of our country.

Lincoln was a champion and he never gave up. Here is a sketch of Lincoln’s road to the White House:

1816 His family was forced out of their home. He had to work to support them.
      1818 His mother died.
      1831 Failed in business.
1832 Ran for state legislature – lost.
l832 Also lost his job – wanted to go to law school but couldn’t get in.
1833 Borrowed some money from a friend to begin a business and by the end of the year he was bankrupt. He spent the next 17 years of his life paying off this debt.
1834 Ran for state legislature again – won.
1835 Was engaged to be married, sweetheart died and his heart was broken.
1836 Had a total nervous breakdown and was in bed for six months.
1838 Sought to become speaker of the state legislature – defeated.
1840 Sought to become elector – defeated.
1843 Ran for Congress – lost.
1846 Ran for Congress again – this time he won – went to Washington and did a good job.
1848 Ran for re-election to Congress – lost.
1849 Sought the job of land officer in his home state – rejected.
1854 Ran for Senate of the United States – lost.
1856 Sought the Vice-Presidential nomination at his party’s national convention – get less than 100 votes.
1858 Ran for U.S. Senate again – again he lost.
1860 Elected president of the United States.

There is no way for raitport to win unless the whole community votes men, women and anyone over 18. Next time try to appeal to the general population as well not just the Jewish community.

  • Jay Sorid

    1) In the past 10 years, Democrats never get under 10,000 votes in the General Election and Republicans never get over 2100 votes. Even if every Jew voted, a Jewish candidate still could not be elected without substantial support from the non-Jewish community.

    2) After giving up the dream of finding a Jewish face to carry Jewish issues, pick an electable democrat to carry the Jewish issues like education tax credit, anti-Semitism , crime, oversaturation of homeless and funding Jewish causes. CAMBA gets $94 million dollars a year, most of which is from tax payer funded state resources.

    3) Every Jew should register as a democrat to vote in the local primaries and then vote Republican or Democrat in non-local general elections. The Jewish businesses on Kingston and the shuls should have stacks of voter registration forms available throughout the year.

    4) Be careful who you are guided by. Some in the Jewish community said there was no democratic vote to worry about in this election. This was a misrepresentation. The two major political players, Eric Adams and the Clarkes were doing business as usual and their agents were out in full force.

If 3000 Jews are registered as Democrats, you are a major voting block that will have your issues responded to. The politicians can see Jewish votes based upon public records data and location data.

For the time it takes to do tefillin, you can register as a democrat and enlist in a Crown Heights Jewish Democratic Voting Club to be guided by whatever authority the community decides, and then you can force, not ask, the politicians to address our issues.

very nice and well written. unfortunatly, what you are saying is simply untrue. the issues you discuss are championed by the GOP, not dems. second, speciall elections means that hoards of idiots dont vote. so we had a chance. except that people like you get in the way looking at a “big picture” which you know absolutely nothing about.

  • Crown Heights Resident

The reason that Raitport lost is. Because there were to many Crown Heights Registered Voters who said. Raitport will win without me going to the voting booth to vote

  • 1414

Mendy, you’re a good honest yid, that counts for alot.
    thankyou for your efforts.
I also think that a few here and a few there who didnt make it to vote, could have made a difference……

  • thanks we need young blood

Listen even blasberg got 2k votes and he spent 10 dollars. Raitport spent 40k and got less??

Explain maybe people didnt like raitport

actuall number is 2,200. union activists messed the numbers around, aside from tearing down signs.
