18.9% Uptick in Tickets this Summer Despite De Blasio Pledge to Back Off

Records compiled over the summer show an 18.9% upswing in tickets issues to New York City businesses from the same period last year, despite Mayor Bill de Blasio’s campaign promise to back-off and cut the city’s small business owners a break.

The NY Post reports that tickets written in July and August alone were up a stunning 53% over last year’s two summer months.

When compared to 2013’s numbers, the FDNY wrote 53% more tickets, while the Buildings Department and Sanitation’s numbers rose 22% and 17% respectively.

The Health Department handed out over 3,400 in July alone, more than in any single month in the last three years.
