Bitter Cold Temperatures Freeze Big Apple

DNA Info

New Yorkers can expect bitterly cold temperatures Sunday, as an arctic blast envelops the city with some of the coldest temperatures of the year.

While skies will be blue with plenty of sunshine, the high is expected to be a mere 25 degrees, balmy compared to the record low of 0 degrees set in 1957, but still frigid, according to Accuweather.com.

Giants fans who trekked to Wisconsin to see Big Blue Battle the Packers at notoriously frigid Lambeau Field will be cut a break in comparison, with a high of 27 degrees expected there.

Gotham woke up to the mercury in the teens with wind chills in the single digits, fueled by northwest winds of 17 mph with 40 mph gusts.

A brisk overnight low of 18 is expected before the mercury starts to climb.

Forecasters predict a high of 38 for Monday and temperatures will rise to near 50 on Tuesday with a chance of rain.
