Boruch Dayan Ho’emes: Mrs. Rochel Samuels, OBM

With sadness we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Rochel Samuels, longtime Crown Heights educator and matriarch of a large family of Chasidim and Shluchim all over the world.

Rochel was born in Brisk, Poland, and emigrated as a young child to Hamilton, Ontario, where her parents were, for many years, the only frum family there. They founded the first orthodox Shul in Hamilton and their home was always open to guests and Mishulachim.

She was the wife of Reb Yankel Samuels, OBM, who merited to be by the Frerdiker Rebbe and who was one of the first students in Tomchei Tmimim in America. He was Mekushar with his heart and soul to the Frierdiker Rebbe and Rebbe.

Mrs. Samuels was a devoted and caring teacher in Mosdos Day Care center for many years. She is fondly remembered for her vivaciousness and youthful demeanor.

She is survived by her daughters, Shevy Bronstein and Gittie Bistritzky, and her sons, Rabbi Shmuel Samuels and Yossie Samuels, all of Crown Heights, as well as her many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
