Boruch Dayan Hoemes: Rabbi Yona Biniashvili, OBM

With great sadness and shock, we inform you of the sudden and untimely passing of a father of several young children, Rabbi Yona Biniashvili, OBM, Chabad Shliach in the Beit Hakerem neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Reb Yona passed away suddenly on Friday after suffering a heart attack.

From Arutz Sheva:

Residents of the neighborhood on Friday expressed their heavy sorrow over the loss of the rabbi, and told Arutz Sheva that he made sure to instill in the neighborhood’s children the values of Judaism and taught them before every holiday what are the commandments that are followed during that holiday.

In his last interview to Arutz Sheva, which came before Rosh Hashanah, Rabbi Biniashvili discussed the blowing of the shofar during the holiday.

“Children love illustration, especially now that we are living in a virtual world. By actually practicing, the child learns all about the shofar and that gives him a sense of action and he is connected to the commandment,” he said.

The niftar is survived by his wife and several young children.

The Levaya was held tonight, Motzei Shabbos, at the Har Hamenuchot cemetery in Jerusalem.
