With sadness we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Keny Deren, OBM, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, matriarch of a large family of Chabad Chasidim and Shluchim worldwide. She was 83.

With sadness we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Keny Deren, OBM, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, matriarch of a large family of Chabad Chasidim and Shluchim worldwide. She was 83.

Born in New Jersey to Rabbi Sholom and Ida Posner in 1930, she moved along with her parents to Pittsburgh in 1942, where her parents were sent by the Frierdiker Rebbe to establish the local branch of Yeshivas Achei Temimim-Lubavitch. She has lived there ever since.

Mrs. Deren is survived by her children: Rabbi Yisroel Deren of Stamford, CT; Mrs. Sonia Wolf of Morristown, NJ; Mrs. Chavi Altein of Crown Heights; Mrs. Blumi Rosenfeld of Pittsburgh, PA; Rabbi Yossi Deren, of Pittsburgh, PA; Rabbi Mendy Deren of Lod, Israel and Mrs. Chani Lazar of Moscow, Russia; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings: Rabbi Zusheh Posner of Israel; Rabbi Zalman Posner of Nashville, TN; Rabbi Yehuda Leib Posner of Borough Park, NY; Mrs. Rivka Sasonkin of Avital, Israel and Mrs. Bassie Garelik of Milan, Italy.

Her husband, Rabbi Yechezkel Deren, passed away in 1978.

The levaya will take place today, Tuesday, at Bais Yechezkel Lubavitch Center in Pittsburgh at 3:00pm. The burial will follow at the Homewood Cemetery.

The family will be sitting shiva at 2214 Shady Ave. in Pittsburgh.
