Boruch Dayan Hoemes: Zev Aryeh Glick, 22-months-old, OBM

With a heavy heart, deep pain and sadness we inform you of the tragic and untimely passing of Zev Aryeh ben Nechama Glick, the 22-month-old child that nearly drowned on Shabbos, and valiantly fought for the last four days.

Zev Aryeh was spending a Shabbos in the Wellsprings Bungalow Colony in upstate Monticello, NY with his parents Schneur Zalman and Nechama (nee Schmerling) Glick of Crown Heights. Apparently the gate to the pool, which is used as a Mikvah on Shabbos, was not closed properly and he managed to squeeze through.

Cries for help from his three-year-old brother alerted adaults from the nearby Shul and he was pulled from the pool in cardiac arrest. Hatzalah was called and miraculously managed to bring back the young boys pulse.

Hooked up to life support, communities around the world gathered and recited Tehillim in his merit. Today, a short while ago, Zev Aryeh returned his neshoma to the creator.

The Levaya will take place Wednesday, and will be leaving from Shomrei Hadas at 10:00am and passing by 770 at around 10:45am.

The heart goes numb hearing this…
All my learning this coming year will be Lilui Nishmaso.

    • A Mom

      Dear Yeshiva Bocher,
Thank you. Keep learning. Encourage your friends and neighbors to keep learning. Lilmod ulelamed, lishmor v’la’asos.
You’ll learn, and teach, and observe and do, while inspiring others to do the same.
We must take this to heart. Hashem is ANGRY cv”s. What does He want? Only that His wayward children should return.
So keep learning, and together may we greet Moshiach Now.

B D E His neshama should have an aliya. How scary he shares a yortziet with the son of Berel Kahan (from the grocery in CH)

many people are very saddened by this tragedy. may you only know from simchas

  • Hindy

Saying that the door was not closed properly after someone used the Mikvah isn’t going to change anything and bring this precious child back. Nothin good can come of blame games. This was hashems will

    • It's not a blame game

Hindy, I think you totally missed the point of the explanation of the poor child’s death. Someone who will be using the mikvah in the future, who otherwise may have forgotten to close the gate, could be reading this article and will now never forget to close the gate. This could save a different child’s life. It could be Hashem’s will that this child was niftar the same way it could be Hashem’s will for someone to read that exact sentence in the article. Sounds like you’re being the judgmental one now….

  • Heartbroken

How horrible and painful. May this be the last tragedy of this dark and bitter golus.

  • Heartbreaking

The glicks are such a beautiful warm chassidishe family may they all have the utmost of strength during this difficult time. Moshiach now!!!! Ad Masai!!???

  • Moshe in Zurich

All the literally thousands of chapters of Tehillim recited in the past days, and all the hachlotois will be a tremendous Zechus for the family, community and Klal Yisroel.
Hamakom yenachem eschem b’soch sha’ar aveilei Tzion v’Yerushalayim.

  • Dear Nechama and Schneur Zalman

my heart goes out to you. A double tragedy – almost losing your son on Shabbos and now having to let go. What words of comfort can I give you, other than to let you know that our hearts are crying with you.
    HaShem chose a special korban.
May it be His will to return what He took immediately… your son, the Rebbe, the beis hamikdash. MaMakon Yenachem eschem b’soch shaar avlei Tzion v’Yerushalayim.

  • oy!

This is just so sad and tragic- I’m heartbroken and I cannot even imagine how much pain the family is going through right now.
We said tehillim and we all believed a miracle would happen, and now we open to this tragic and painful chapter. Now that we have heard this heartbreaking news, there is only one thing that we can do to bring back little zevi, and that is by bringing moshiach. So let’s join together just like we did when we prayed for his recovery and pray and do all we can to rejoin zevi with his family and parents. We need to all cry together AD MASAI to our father in heaven!!!
May we merit to the coming of moshiach speedily in our days!

Telling that “the door was not closed properly” can alert others in the future, to the importance of securing all doors and gates to pools. We can do our part.

  • The Rebbe's directive

The Rebbe, when visiting CGI Parksville stressed water safety. We all try our best.
This is the ratzon of Hashem, and the Glicks, along with all of Klal Yisroel, mourn the loss. May they be comforted by knowing how so many of us gathered around them with so much tehillim and now broken hearts. BDE

This tragedy is no random accident — someone did not close the gate to the pool/mikva properly. He should be aware of the cost of what he did with his carelessness.
