The Houston Jewish community now has another iconic part of what has become expected of an orthodox Jewish community.

Houston Hatzalah has began operating, providing emergency medical services to the Houston community. Its mission; “To improve medical outcomes and save lives by enhancing existing emergency medical services in the Houston area.”

Unlike some other Hatzalah divisions, Houston Hatzalah writes on their website that their service is designed to act as a bridge until an authorized governmental rescue unit can arrive. The volunteers respond in their own vehicles, and do not have their own ambulance.

While supported and staffed by the Jewish community, Hatzalah provides care at no cost equally to all who are in need, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.
