Jewish Tombstones Vandalized in Rome

from Arutz Sheva:

Dozens of gravestones were desecrated in the Jewish section of the Verano cemetery in Rome, Italy.

It is believed the gravestones were desecrated overnight Thursday. The vandalism was discovered Friday morning by a cemetery employee.

The chief rabbi of Rome, Rabbi Riccardo Di Segni, arrived at the scene to examine the damage and even prayed with the families of those whose tombstones were desecrated.

Local police have launched an investigation.

The Chabad emissary in Rome, Rabbi Menachem Lazar, is helping families who live abroad and whose loved ones’ tombstones were vandalized in rebuilding the tombstones.

Where is the pope?! we just spoke to the pope regarding this, he promised to use ALL of his influence to prevent such vandalism, and this happens in his back yard!

I think someone must go meet him again.

Notwithstanding #1 sarcastic post, we can blame Il Duce AKA the pope for this. He is a rabid antisemite but we can’t expect anything else from those perverts.

My heart goes out to those families whose loved ones’ tombs were desecrated. This is at once so sickening and so sad.

  • TO NUMBER 1

I can’t help but chuckle because you took the words out of my mouth..
    but it is quite disturbing.
It’s just another reminder that we are still in golus
and no matter which self proclaimed “important”
rabbi (?) goes to the Vatican we are still in golus.
Our job is to mikaruv yidden and if we are to teach the nations about sheva mitzvos we do it away from the Vatican. WE do not go there to be gorus them.
