Israel to Amazon: Stop Selling Holocaust-Denying Books

from The Times of Israel:

Israel’s official Holocaust memorial has asked Amazon to stop selling literature on its site that denies the genocide of 6 million Jews during World War II and otherwise promotes anti-Semitism.

Yad Vashem’s director of libraries Robert Rozett says he has dispatched a letter to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos offering his assistance to “curb the spread of hatred.”

Rozett says Sunday that Yad Vashem has approached Amazon before on the subject but the internet retailing giant insisted it would not halt sales of offensive and inciting material, citing freedom of information. Rozett says he hoped that given the recent spike in anti-Semitic incidents in the United States, particularly a vandalism attack on a Jewish cemetery near St. Louis, Amazon would reconsider its position.

  • Amazon is evil

I am not a are of this until now. Amazon practically owns the retail world and Bezos is a lunatic.
It won’t help but I won’t buy from Amazon anymore, Thank you for publicizing this

Free speech is free speech no matter how odious it might be. Luckily we have a choice not to buy or read books defaming HaShoah or other topics of Jewish interest.

Dear #3, Shoppers so inclined can buy the Confederate flag and Amazon is one of those places. Obviously there is a market for such items or they would not be sold.

You’re correct #2, free speech is free speech.

Remember though, it’s also free speech for people to stand up and say how much we detest what they are saying.

Amazon is a private business, not the government. They have total freedom to sell whatever they like. They also have total freedom to remove items from their shelves. And we have total freedom to speak up and to do what we can to convince Amazon to remove these items from their shelves.

If enough people do like #1 and let Amazon know it, then they’ll see how their bottom line is better served by taking the moral route here.
