Lubavitchers Menachem Avel the Satmer Rebbe

KIRYAS JOEL, NY [CHI] — A delegation of local Shluchim, Rabonim and Askonim went to be Menachem Avel the Satmer Rebbe in Monroe yesterday, Sunday.

The group was greeted warmly and heimishly and sat together with the Rabbi Aron Teitelbaum in his home in Kirias Joel, NY.

The delegation included Shluchim; Rabbi Yisroel Rubin, Albany, NY, Rabbi Pesach Burston, Orange County, NY, Rabbi Yonoson Denenbeim, Palm Springs, FL, and Rabbi Bentzion Chanovitz, Shliach in Monticello. Rabonim; Rabbi Moshe Bogomilsky, Rabbi Yitzchok Zirkind, Rabbi Shlomo Segal, along with Rabbi Don Yoel Levy, Rabbi Yossi Freidman, Rabbi Noochie Gross, and Rabbi Berel Levertov.

Together they discussed a veriety of Halachic topics including those of Hallel and Aveilus, which pertained to Shiva.

And Rabbi Noochie Gross recounted the story of when the Rebbe, Reb Yoel Teitelbaum, stayed in Crown Heights before moving to Williamsburg in 1946, Which he heard from Rabbi Yochonan Gurarai Shliach in Cholon Israel, who heard from the Kozlover Rebbes Gabbai, that it was well known that the Kozlover Rebbe had a big library on President Street in Crown Heights and while the Satmer Rebbe stayed in Crown Heights he had spent many hours there, and the Rebbe, before becoming Rebbe, spent time there as well and the two spent many hours schmoozing in Torah.

Following their trip the delegation drove a few miles to check out the new weekday Shul that is being built under auspicious of local Shliach Rabbi Burston.

Thank you for presenting this story so beautifully, v’hamevin yavin. And for giving us important details, like what was discussed and whose shul they went too, as well as identifing the people, such as Denebeim and Burston. Yasher koiach!

I am almost certain that I once saw an old video clip of The Rebbe speaking to a chaveret Knesset, who asked the Rebbe what he says about ‘HaRebbe M’Satmar’, and the Rebbe zt“l replied:
”You want me to give an opinion on someone I never met who speaks about a ‘medina’ I never visited!?”
So, I don’t know how to reconcile these two stories except that maybe The Rebbe hadn’t met the Satmar Rebbe *as Rebbe*.
If anyone knows more about either of these two incidents, please post.
    Thanks.

the Rebbe met the Satmar twicw in 1954 when the Rebbe was menachem avel the Satmar and after vov Tishrei (1964) whemn the saatmar came to the Rebbe.

    the quote is highly doubtful.

does anyone care that the satmar rebbe’s sons are making such a chilul hashem by fighting over who gets rights to the dynasty.that there is hatred among the members of both sects. that control of the money is more importnat to them then achdus.im sure the rebbe is turning in his grave watching his 2 sons fight and not talk to each other but all you people make these two sons out to be such great men. Great men dont fight. They love.

is well known that the Rebbe met the Satmar at his Shiva
and discussed inyonim in Torah (about our minhag to put tefilin on the day of the kevura R”L)etc.etc.

A BOOK SHOUT BE WRITTEN ON THE SUBJECT. there are other stories, such as that after the rebbe zy“a left the satmar rebbe’s house, the satmar rebbe told r. aron kotler, za”l “einer in a dor” because the rebbe quoted an obcure tosfos and other sources in their discussion when the rebbe was menachem ovel.

a rabbi shnitzler from monsey has said that he had, on a number of occasions, been an emissary between the both rebbes in the 70’s.

there are now ongoing dual chk-crc productions of milk cheese and wine.

    and let us never forget:

THE ONLY YIDEN WHO CAME TO CROWN HEIGHTS AND TOOK TO THE STREETS DURING THE FATEFUL RIOTS WERE THE SATMAR CHASSIDIM FROM WILLIAMSBURG.

    I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT.

THEY PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE FOR US WITH MESIRAS NEFESH LIKE THE GREATEST YIDEN OF HISTORY

It could have happened (the quote to the knesset member) before 1954.

I have heard many years ago, that when the Rebbe saw the newly printed book by the Satmar Rebbe , “Al Hageulah Val Hatemurah,” he threw it on the floor and said, “He cannot bear to read such ideas.” If someone can confirm this story, thanks in advance.

satmar is very large and varied and should not be lumped together.

lets remember boruch muskovoitch who has opened his house to lubavitchers on tahlaucha going through williamsburg for the past 8 years.

what a farbrenger! i was there once

other jews say the exact words as you do and just use mishichistim and antis instead of satmar.
