2-Alarm Fire on Eastern Parkway Injures 7, 1 Critically

A fast moving 2-alarm fire in a 3-story home on Eastern Parkway injured 3 residents and four fire fighters, who struggled for nearly an hour to contain and douse the blaze. One of those injured, a woman, was critically injured.

The fire broke out in the second floor of 1464 Eastern Parkway at around 11:20am. Eye witnesses said that they saw residents fleeing the burning building.

Fire fighters arrived on scene within minutes and acting on tips from bystanders quickly began searching the building for trapped residents. Thankfully everyone had already made it out, albeit with some injuries. One woman was critically injured and transported to Brooklyn Hospital and is expected to survive.

Due to gusting winds it took fire fighters nearly an hour to douse the blaze, which was seen at times coming out the front windows and through the roof. By the time they had it under control four firefighters had been injured, one with a leg injury and the others from smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
