In honor of Yud Tes Kislev, the Chinuch Yaldei Hashluchim division of The Shluchim office took their international rally via phone-conference up a major notch, by broadcasting the rally over the web.

Young Shluchim worldwide participated in the first worldwide web rally and were able to virtually meet their friends and family from around the world. The web rally proved to be a great way to impart the importance of the day to the children, by making the web rally a hi-tech global farbrengen. “This is a great example of utilizing modern technology for ruchnius,” said the master of ceremonies of the web rallies, Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Kantor.

Over 2500 Yaldei Hashluchim Worldwide Connect VIA The Web

The web rally was scheduled for four separate times to accommodate different time zones and languages, however due to the overwhelming response an impromptu fifth rally was scheduled at the last minute, as families were vying for the honor of reciting a passuk and having their family’s photo on display, for all to hear and see!

On the web rally program, the children said L’chaim, gave Tzedokah, and were treated to an inspiring video presentation of the Rebbe. Additionally, an interactive game of “Are You a Yud Tes Kislev Maven,” challenged the children to numerous questions regarding Yud Tes Kislev with the option of faxing or e-mailing in their answers and receiving a prize.

The first web rally was held at 11:30 a.m. ET; in Hebrew, a 4:00 rally was held via phone conference for those without access to a computer, and was run by Rabbi Zalman Kudan; English web rallies were held at 1:00 p.m. ET, 6:00 p.m. ET and a later rally was added at 7:30 pm ET.

The twelve pesukim were recited by children spanning the globe, from Guadalajara, Mexico, to Bahia Blanca, Argentina. With the participation of over 400 families and approximately 2500 children ranging from Istanbul, Turkey to Beijing, China, the rallies were met with an overwhelming response and great excitement, giving the Yaldei Hashluchim the feeling that although their locations span the four corners of the globe they are still united by a common thread, inspiring them to continue in their great work as the future generation of lamplighters to inspire others to follow in the way of Chassidus.

The response has been overwhelming. They feel it helps them keep their children’s hiskashrus strong. As one Shlucha put it, “Thank you for helping us celebrate Yud Tes Kislev, and for allowing us to connect with Yaldei Hashluchim the world over. It was a big Z’chus for my Kinderlach to say a Passuk. They actually said the Passuk of Yagati –which was a Passuk I said in front of the Rebbe at the first rally ever that girls were called to say a Passuk. Thank for all the time, energy and effort that goes into producing this rally and other truly wonderful programs and publications.”

Wow, unbeleivable. This is an awesome effort. It is so nice to see how such beautiful things are happening outside of Crown heights. Maybe we can figure out how to integrate some new ideas into our community.
