CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Girls from Beis Rivkah High School and Bnos Menachem High School, arranged in honor of Purim Koton that the grades switch schools for the morning.

According to the girls involved, the plan was that the girls attend Davening at each other’s schools then switch back before beginning the period of classes. What actually happened has parents up in arms.

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — Snow started falling at about 11:00pm last night, cloaking Crown Heights in nice thick layer of white snow by the time residents woke up this morning. A total of about 5 inches of snow accumulated so far, and we can get as much as 9 inches.

Its about thirty degrees but feels more like twenty outside. For up to the minute forecast updates, check out the weather feature, towards the bottom of the left side bar.

An utterly distraught religious woman came running to a Chassidic Rebbe one day, weeping uncontrollably.

“Rebbe,” she cried, “It’s my son. He went Meshuga. I think he needs a psychiatrist!” He’s really acting strange.”

“What’s the matter?” Asked the Rebbe.

“The matter?” cried the distressed woman. “He’s behaving like a lowlife! He dances with gentile women; he even began dining on swine! I’m telling you he’s crazy.”

The Rebbe looked at the poor woman as he tried to put her problems into perspective.

“My dear lady, if your son were dancing with pigs and dining on women, I would say that he is indeed insane. But the way you describe him he is not crazy at all. I’d say that he has become a very indulgent and lascivious young man. No my dear, that’s what we call ‘sinful,’ not ‘crazy.’ There’s nothing at all crazy about that.”

MOSCOW, Russia — The Fourth Congress of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia has concluded in Moscow, involving leaders from 181 communities. At the opening ceremony, FJC Russia spokesperson Boruch Gorin underlined the organization's achievements since it was founded ten years ago. “Our challenge here is not only to report on what has been done, but to choose a strategy and path of development for the Jewish community,” he explained.

1. This week’s Haftorah discusses how Eliyahu Hanavi (Elijah the Prophet) was sent by Hashem to direct the Yidin (Jewish people) of Samaria back onto the righteous path so that the hunger in the land of Samaria would end.

When Eliyahu Hanavi arrives in Samaria he gathers all the Yidin, who were then serving the idol called “Bal”, and the non-Jewish prophets of the “Bal”, onto Mount Carmel and says, “How long will you dance on two sides?”

2. The Rebbe now questions Eliyahu Hanavi’s strategy:
