Lubavitch Trio Introduces New Men’s Accessory Shop

CROWN HEIGHTS – A group of three Lubavitcher entrepreneurs have recently launched a new concept in the men’s clothing industry – a one stop shop for accessories including ties, cufflinks, scarves and eyeglass frames. And the best part? The price.

Everywhere one looks, it seems that women have more opportunity than men to accessorize.
What about the men? Where do fashion forward men go for a convenient one-stop shop for all their accessory needs?

ETC [pronounced etcetera] is exactly that. The etcetera’s in a man’s wardrobe are of key importance – the ties, cufflinks, pocket squares and scarves add edge and style to any outfit. It’s the details that have always separated the merely well dressed from the truly stylish.

This new venture is the brainchild of Zalman Lipskar and Shloime Hecht, co-founders of AM Bespoke Custom Clothiers, along with Shaya Gordon, owner of multiple retail stores. The trio has numerous years of experience in men’s clothing, accessories and retail.

The truism that “necessity is the mother of invention” has driven them to create this much-needed store. Working with their multiple contacts around the world, they have succeeded in sourcing the products for far less than the market price.

The pilot store, which has recently opened in Crown Heights, boasts hundreds of unique cufflinks, modern eye wear and one of a kind ties. This store is the first of multiple locations to be rolled out in coming months in New York, Los Angeles and Miami.

ETC offers stylish and contemporary ties, cufflinks, eyewear, pocket squares, scarves and other men’s accessories. By offering the customer a choice of a variety of styles, ETC is confident that every man will find accessories to match their unique style.

In addition, it is a fabulous place for women to buy gifts for her husband, sons or father.

Accessorizing is a way to breathe new life into old outfits. Many times, accessories are looked at as an afterthought.

And the best part? Everything in the store is $15.

Come check out the Crown Heights store at 336 Albany Avenue and like us on Facebook.

Wow-we sure are modernizing…what happened to white shirts/black pants and NO TIES….this is certainly a new CH…Chabad Lite indeed!

  • concerned member of the community

There are other things crown heights needs first! First of all were is our chassidishkiet!!! Look around young bochrim frying out on Kingston ave and now we are selling clothing to match their dress style!! You can post anything against what I write but the truth hurts! Because this is the truth look around!!! Hashem should bless you in making the right decisions for you and your family!!!!! Amen!!

  • belongs in flatbush

Ch should open up a housing center, for people who can’t afford to pay rent not another clothing store

  • May The Aibishter bless you

to number three .! this store is not just for chabdniks or chabad lite . if it attracts buisness to the area generally the whole shchuna will benefit and be able to upgrade schools housing etc for the needy in the area ..
also these young Chabad entrepeneurs give back multifold to Chabad causes . we need these and others like them to be blessed with Parnosso Beharchava so that they can and will (as they are and will continue to )give openly .Much Hatzlocho to them .

  • To all the negative Nancies

To #2 and #3: There was once a man who came in and complained to the Rebbe that while his son in a Litfish yeshiva always looked presentable, his son who learnt in 770 looks like a ‘shlump’. The Rebbe unbuttoned his kapota and showed the man a tie over a perfectly pressed tucked in shirt, and said (paraphrasing) “Fum mier hobben zei nished gelerent”. So please…

To #6: In finance there is a concept called ‘mutually exclusive vs independent projects’ look it up.

As for me, I’ve only experienced excellence and professionalism from the the cleaners in that spot (which is quite the breath of fresh air in CH), so if it’s the same person running that shop
I will be happy to patronize that establishment.

  • Respect people of action!

    B“H
I cannot understand the fools who complain against this store because ”Crown Heights should open up a housing center“ or ”There are other things Crown Heights needs first“. Do these imbeciles think that there is some communal or government organization that opens stores and decides how people invest their money? If you don’t like the concept, you have a simple solution. Don’t shop there. These sort of people that write posts like these need to stop expecting entitlements and go out and work hard and succeed. There is ”they.” Just you. You are a Yid and a Chossid so stop whining and go to work!

  • to no. 6

this is a business venture being run by 3 people There are many more who could do what you suggest …maybe put yourself at the head of that group who will organise the support you are talking about? It is great that the price is affordable. If people can get $15 glasses frames that is a good thing.
It is great to see people making a go of things and might even encourage more kids to stay frum if they can experience success. Keep smiling everyone. Children are happier if their parents are happy. Noone wants to sign up for a lifestyle of misery.
looking forward to checking out the store when i come in for the kinus

  • Bye bye old chassidishe values for men

Oy, what will be with chassidishe values for livoosh for men?

  • cool idea

I literally feel like all the nay sayers have like ridiculous Bal Teshuva syndrome and need to come down off their high horses.
With a mentality like that you will bring no one closer to Frumkeit.

  • Ronnie Mueller, Manhattan

Hey quit knockin’ the new store. Every new upgraded addition in Crown Heights is good for the community. If everyone upgrades to the Manhattan look, it’ll definitely clean up the ghetto look that the black hoodlums thrive on… it’ll mean more solid brick bastions of retail outlets, more cops on the beat. It’s better. Take it from me.

  • Interesting...

    To # 2 – “white shirts/black pants”
Oh you mean “the made-up invention of Lubavitch in the late 1990’s” copied from other ultra-orthodox streams?
Can someone please educate me (who went through the mainstream system from high school through 770, in the 80’s) why this mode changed, well after Gimmul Tammuz? (Along with general studies education for the masses, while on the topic).

  • I like the idea

I couldn’t agree more with #10,#12,#13 and #15. Too much whining and complaining.

    #14 What values are disappearing?
    To #6. People need jobs.

  • To #16

There is only so much that can fit into Crown Heights.

Go to Kiryas Joel, N.Y. and tell me Jews are not living in a ghetto dump.

  • TO #10 & 13

TO NUMBER 10. & 13: I THINK THIS STORE SHOOULD ALSO BE SELLING MAKE UP FOR MEN AND HAVE A MANICURIST AND PEDICURIST AND POSSIBLY A HAIRDRESSER OR MORE ACCURATELY PUT A BEARDDRESSER SO THAT OUR “CHABAD” MEN HEAVEN FORBID SHOULDN’T LOOK LIKE SHLUMPS WITH JUST A WHITE SHIRT AND DARK SUIT AND HAT! PERHAPS IT WOULD ALSO BE A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE SOMEONE THERE TO TEACH THEM HOW TO WALK NICELY AS WELL…. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU????? ANYONE THAT’S NOT TOTALLY BLIND CAN SEE HOW CROWN HEIGHTS IS GOING TO HELL BECAUSE OF THE EMPHASIS ON THE PHYSICAL CRUDE “LOOK” WE’VE ADOPTED. WE ARE FAST BECOMING THE OLD 42ND! STREET. I HOPE THIS STORE CLOSES SO THAT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD DOESN’T BECOME THE TRUE SEDOM. jUST FOR THE RECORD, THE SAME REBBE THAT YOU QUOTE ALSO SPECIFICALLY SAID FOR THE BOCHURIM TO S T O P WEARING TIES, WHICH THEY USED TO WEAR REGULARLY, AND THAT IS A FACT! AS FOR NUMBER 13’S COMMENT PROSTITUTION IS ALSO A ‘BUSINESS’ DOES THAT MEAN WE SHOULD GO INTO THAT AS WELL????? STOP TRYING TO RID YOURSELVES OF YOUR GUILT COMPLEXES OVER NOT BEING UP TO PAR AND LIVING AS A CHOSID SHOULD!

  • To number 17 and 22

To number 17, it is true that the white shirt idea came in place in the 90s but that is only because it was needed then. I also went through the system in the 80s and I can tell you that there was hardly any bochur (I can think of 2 or 3 in my class) who were into clothing etc. I am not saying that everyone was holy but that klipah didn’t exist. I believe that in general men bieng into clothing is a newer meshugas in general.

To number 22: you are trying to sound frum but from your language it is obvious that you are a grubeh yung.

  • helping chassidish become mentchlich

thank you for the service and cheap pricing
nothing wrong with looking like a mentch no matter how chassidish u are

  • to #22

Please give a source for for tie comment, being that that was the only possible sense I was able to make out in your ridiculous comment comparing ties to manicures etc.

  • serel maness

l guess the store isn’t aware there are three others stores that carry the same things

  • shay

What! Frum men dont wear ties and glasses? whats your problem? Black and white is hard to accept for a lifetime, once in a while a splash of color is pleasant and allows a mans personality to peek through amidst looking like everybody else! What is wrong with that? They need to buy black ties and see through glasses and black scarves too!? Cmon, live and let live. You can stick with black and white while others wear shades of grey (speaking metaphorically)

  • CH shopper

I agree with #26. Frum men need all the things in the shop, and not only that, non-Jews also shop on Kingston. People also like to give gifts. They may have family members or friends who are tie wearers that they could treat to a nice tie or pair of cufflinks. Not all stores on Kingston have to cater to the same crowd. We don’t criticize the ice cream store because CH needs a Weight Watchers meeting place.
I would advise the store owners that when the shluchos come in for convention and other tourist seasons, open early, have some late hours, and offer gift bags. Don’t gift wrap anything that is going in carry-on or checked luggage. I would also advise them to sell earmuffs and gloves. Men need those too.

  • Girl-s perspective

If given the choice, I would rather see you wearing a tie than seeing your shirt half open exposing your black undershirt and chest hairs, yuck!

  • awacs

Webby, you really should identify this as an ad rather than disguising it as a news story ( “… like us on Facebook.”)

  • #27 - please look at photos

There are COUNTLESS pictures of the Rebbe, the Rebbe’s father, AND the Rebbe’s father-in-law, all wearing ties. When did it become Chabad “light” or even a concept in Lubavitch to look anything less than mentschlich and put together? When did it become a minhag in Lubavitch not to wear the same levush that our Rebbe, his father AND his father-in-law wore? People need to think before they post and better yet, people need to educate themselves on our Rabbeim before categorizing people who choose to wear anything as less than 100% frum.

  • CH shopper

And Tully, while you’re at it, stock the place with a nice selection of belts and wallets. Make it a one stop shop.
