He ran into the kitchen and grabbed a large knife and pointed it at the cashier who called immediately called Shomrim and 911. Shomrim arrived on scene first and talked him into dropping the knife and stepping out of the store to talk and try to resolve the dispute, while police arrived on scene and began questioning him.

The employee apologized for his outbreak and told the cops that he would return when the owner was there. There were no arrests made.

In case of an emergency never hesitate to call 911 and Shomrim at (718) 774-3333 24/7!

  • Shomrim, first on the scene again?

    “Shomrim arrived on scene first”

Why is shomrim the first ones on the scene every time a crime occurs? It makes you wonder….

NO ARRESTS? Man — what is this? Favouritism for a Mexicali Chichi? Cmon… In Canada, the Toronto Police or the RCMP or the O.P.P. would have for sure handcuffed this guy and taken him into custody, in a locked steel room for questioning for at least 6-10 hours… This is ridiculous! No wonder these idiots are freewheelin’ willies…

  • elephantbrain

WHY WAS THERE NO ARREST? THREATENING AT KNIFEPOINT SHOULD BE TREATED AS SERIOUSLY AS JUMPING A TURNSTILE. THIS IS WHY THE CRIME RATE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD (BY GOYIM &, L’HAVDIL, BY YIDDEN) IS CREEPING UP – WITH THE EMPHASIS ON “CREEP.” WE LET THE CREEPS GO, SO THE REAL BAD GUYS SEE THAT YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH ANYTHING HERE.

  • DOESN-T MAKE ANY SENSE

WHAT, NEXT TIME HE COMES, IT’S GONNA BE WITH A GUN… WHAT NEXT? WHY WOULD THYE JUST LET HIM GO?

  • gertie

I wouldnt have the guts to take a knife and point it to a person and say “ give me the money ” would you ?

  • guardian angel

how can that puerto rican be let free.
how about menacing, attempted murder, possession of a deadly weapon, harrassment, tresspassing

really. what wimps. in williamsburg, there is a more unified community. this recent violence would have been taken care of from within

  • resident giving thanks

Great job shomrim! rock on on all cylinders! even though their are people who try to hinder your progress and be a thorn at your side. All shomrim members should have success in everything they do! thank you for being there when called upon 24/7.

  • me

Maybe the cashier didn’t wanna press charges, In which case no arrest would be made

  • rachel

it is the cashiers fult he wasn’t intrestead in pressing chargs…. not shmrims fult they did there best(the cashier is the one that called I spoke to him the day it happend). thanks shomrim for being here when we ever we need you.

  • Dovi

Regardless if he did or did not want to press charges in such a case the state (NYPD in this case) is required to take the perpetrator into custody. If one murders an innocent civilian in the middle of the street with only 1 witness which for whatever odd reason isn’t prepared to press charges the cops are obligated to make an arrest and it’s up to the DA`s office to prosecute. (People vs. defendant. In which the government is the plaintiff so to speak.) A weapon remains a weapon! The flights that Rachmono Li`tzlan were flown into the twin towers were hijacked with nail filers and clippers. That man should have been arrested!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After speaking to some of these “thorns” the last few days,
I have come to the conclusion that the
Only Avara/sin of Shomrim is that they care.
As a group and as individuals each member gives all they got so we can sleep better at night.
Great job Shomrim, Continue what you are doing despite those that are trying to destroy OUR community (they are just playing there rules in history, I.e. Dashon & Averom, Areve Rav, etc…) stand strong, in the end of the day we all know that you have our backs and you are there when you are needed.

  • The Hershkop Brothers

Even when we were kids I remember that on the School bus the Hershkop’s always made sure that the weaker kids had seats, they would always protect the weak agents the bullies. They are the bullies bully and that’s a compliment.
I see from the members that join Shomrim that they are in Shomrim only because they care and want to help and not the other way around (that because they are in Shomrim they help). If g-d forbid I am in trouble I hope and pray that they are near by (whether it be on the street of unfortunately in 770, too many times we hear stories of people witnessing acts of violence agents a fellow Jew and no body help him out, B”H that’s not the case with Shomrim). When A Yid is in trouble you must help!

[Side note: Although I am not officially part of Shomrim, I do have a friend who is and once in a while I will give him a call and patrol with them. You should try it for you self.]

  • related

I can personally attest to the dedication of shomrim members, for I am related to a member and lots of times when we have family events I see him leave the event just to help another jew, whether its a real emergency or merely someone got locked out of his car what-ever it is.

  • grateful

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”.
    Thank you Shomrim,
A very grateful member of our community
Thanks for the help the other night!
