Car Brazenly Burglarized in Broad Daylight

This morning, a car parked on Crown Heights’ busiest thoroughfare was burglarized in broad daylight, yet the thief perpetrated his crime unhindered.

The incident occurred at around 7:00 Thursday morning. A Jewish-owned minivan parked on Eastern Parkway between Kingston and Albany Avenues was broken into and burglarized, mere feet away from the permanent NYPD command post located in front of the Jewish Children’s Museum.

The thief smashed the front passenger side window, then entered the car and rummaged through it looking for valuables. He made off with an inexpensive dash-cam.

The owner of the vehicle told CrownHeights.info that at 9:00am she saw her minivan and did not notice it burglarized, though the burglary was discovered by a passerby – who immediately contacted Shomrim – at 10:00am.

Another witness emailed a photo of the burglarized minivan at around 7:20am, leading Shomrim to believe that the vehicle was broken into sometime earlier.

“It is unbelievable that such a brazen burglary occurred in broad daylight on such a busy street, and yet nobody noticed it and contacted the police,” a Shomrim volunteer told CrownHeights.info. “That is very disturbing,” he said.

The surprise would have been if the perp was interfered with and stopped. But then again, these people might do something rash against you. Better to be armed and have get on the ground or else. However, in DeBlasio’s and the political correctness New York, it seems that those who violate the law are treated better then the victims.

Someone maliciously broke numerous car windows, stealing nothing, on Maple Street, East New York Avenue, and the surrounding blocks — some cars owned by Jews, but not exclusively. They used huge rocks and cinder blocks and just left them in the cars.

This was not even reported in any of the Crown Heights websites, to my knowledge. It is really strange that no one heard the noise, though many of the cars were a bit older and do not seem to have had alarm systems.

Yes that’s New York. Lots of New Yorkers don’t know their neighbors….So how would they realize theft, In broad Daylight??

  • cameras

did anyone in the area have surveillance cameras?????
we need more of the cameras

  • NYPD is a disgrace!

NYPD is a disgrace! They pretend to have a presence by having vehicles posted in front of our schools and shulls but it is a scam. When it comes time to get them to help with something they are no where to be seen. I recently witnessed a bike robbery and the NYPD told me I can’t report it. They do what they have to keep the stats low. They are a sad excuse for an organization! An incident like this should be so embarrassing.

I propose the death penalty for purposely breaking windows and vandalizing cars. Enough is enough.

Vote for trump! He will be tough on crime.

I agree 100% we need cameras are on Eastern Parkway Kingston Avenue and all the places around Crown Heights this is really ridiculous

this is terrible. its happening all over crown heights. I wish the police would please do more patrols and catch the criminals responsible for this

  • Left Crown Heights

Another reason. No alarms.. No steering wheel locks. People who are actually nice. Even cops nicer ( a little).
