Shomrim: Holidays Bring Spike in Car Burglaries

During the holiday season there is always a notable uptick in auto related thefts and burglary, with the pressure to procure holiday gifts – or those who simply leave them in cars. Crown Heights Shomrim has issued a community warning alerting vehicle owners not to leave any items in plain sight. At all.

In the past two weeks there have been multiple reports of thefts from cars all around the neighborhood, in one incident a precious pair of Tefillin were stolen from a car parked on Montgomery Street near Kingston Avenue.

Shomrim said that a Tefillin bag can be mistaken as something that would contain valuable items and leaving them in plain sight, even for a moment, is irresponsible.

In another incident last week [http://www.crownheights.info/index.php?itemid=49168]where a pair of Tefillin were stolen Shomrim had assisted in have the thief arrested and reunited the Tefillin with their owner.

Shomrim urged vehicle owners to exercise caution and not leave any items or bags, even trash, in cars as these are invitations for thieves.

Also, last week two cars had their rims and tires stolen, once incident which we reported occurred on Brooklyn Avenue and Montgomery Street, the other occurred earlier last week on Montgomery Street and Troy Avenue.

For some reason i just cannot fathom which genius buys a luxury car like i see above and parks it on a public street in Brooklyn. You must be a real genius or its your first time in Brooklyn.

Even if i was really wealthy those cars belong in a garage or buy a pontiac. They all have wheels and move. If it breaks down buy a new if your wealthy.

    Come on people!!!
