Crown Heights Girls Flashed, Groped by Pervs

Yesterday, Wednesday, at about 6:00pm, two Jewish girls in their early teens were walking on Eastern Parkway toward Nostrand Ave. when they were approached by two African-American men in their late 20s to early 30s.

The men, who were both on bicycles, pulled up in front of the girls and began to verbally harass them. When the girls tried to walk past them, one of the men reached out and groped one of the 15-year-old girls.

Two Bochurim who were standing nearby saw the attack take place and confronted the assailants. An altercation ensued, and a passing Jewish woman called Shomrim.

The two young men told Shomrim volunteers what they had witnessed. Shomrim immediately called the police, who arrived in time to apprehend the suspects.

Unfortunately, however, the two girls had fled the scene and were unable to provide testimony to the officers. Without the presence of the alleged victims, the police were unable to arrest the suspects. The police took down their personal information and released them.

If you were, or know who was, the victim of this incident, please immediately contact Shomrim at 718-774-3333 so that a police report can be filed and an arrest made.

This incident follows a separate one that occurred on Monday, June 9th, to a 10-year-old girl who was walking up Brooklyn Ave. after school.

As she neared Carroll St., an African-American male who was walking towards her stopped and exposed himself to her.

The young girl ran home crying.

The traumatized girl’s mother called Shomrim, who in turn notified police and assisted with the search and investigation.

Unfortunately, the perpetrator was not found. He was described by the victim as dark-skinned with short hair, wearing jeans and a white t-shirt with an emblem on it.

Please Note: As the summer begins, it is important to be especially vigilant of your surroundings and take extra safety precautions, as the warmer weather usually brings heightened levels of crime with it.

If you notice any suspicious activity, please do not hesitate to notify Shomrim at 718-774-3333.

we must work on tznius so that we don’t entice this behavior! our chachomim put the institute of tznius .

  • WHAT"S SO TERRIBLE?!!!

Now, don’t get me wrong. I really don’t mean that. The perverts should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. What gets me though is that there are so many of these things happening in OUR circles, done by OUR people. How does the Rav handle it? “SHHHHH… “

  • Fed Up

Pure molestation! Find the suspects and throw them in jail with the other animals. Let the others in jail give them a worse experience than what those girls went through!

  • Why are 10 year olds walking alone?

I never saw anything like it. Young children in our neighborhoods walking around alone.

    • 10 is old enough

ummm… i think 10 years old id old enough. you think their mothers still need to pick them up in 5th grade? also, there r a lot of girls walking home from school at once

  • To #2 and #5

Stop looking for explanations. Stop looking for reasons behind these incidents. Stop blaming the victims for wearing untznius clothing (which, by the way, you have no authority to assume) or walking alone. By victim blaming, you are giving cause to those violated to feel at fault, and it is NEVER THEIR FAULT. It is purely the fault of those committing the heinous crimes. STOP BLAMING.

  • I was mooned..

by a “Frum!?!” guy with saggy pants. He bent over in front of me and ….
Why? Your yarmulka and tzitzis don’t cover your rear end when you bend.
And what about our young women with minis, slits and low necklines?
Best line I heard from a little boy walking with his father, “Tatty, that mommy forgot to put on her skirt today”. Without skipping a beat, the father answered, “Nu? the animals in the zoo also don’t wear clothes!”
Ladies, you are not animals! Fix your clothing. The way you dress is disgusting, and chases away the Secheinah from our shechuna.

Brooklyn is the slum ‘hood of New York. We are tasting the bitter fruits of our failure to keep this neighborhood a beautiful Jewish schuna, as the Rebbe pleaded, cajoled, and begged. This could have been done very easily in the late 1950s and 1960s, but we obviously weren’t ready to listen to our Rebbe’s advice and instruction. And we still haven’t learned our lesson about Ahavas Yisroel and Achdus in Crown Heights.
