Another Home Robbed Friday Night

A familiar – yet no less shocking – scene played out once again this Shabbos, as another Crown Heights home was broken into and robbed while the family slept peacefully upstairs.

This time, the burglars targeted a home on Carroll St. between Schenectady and Utica Avenues. They broke through the front door of the home and cleaned out every piece of silverware in sight, including the family’s candelabra, candlesticks and a menorah. A cell phone was also taken.

Family members told CrownHeights.info that they believe the burglars staked out the house for several hours before breaking in, since they waited until everyone had gone to sleep – at about 5:30am – before entering the home. The theft was discovered Shabbos morning at around 8:30am.

This represents the 9th such incident (to our knowledge) since the wave of Friday night break-ins began in early summer. Previous incidents can be read about here, here, here and here.

Remember when our patrols used to watch the alleys at night? Why aren’t the POLICE doing it? They get paid out of our tax dollars to protect us & our possessions. Too busy having fun at the precinct to go out at night.

You must be kidding! A black DA and a Republican mayor will stop the thieves? I think you are dreaming on the side of your own bias.

#8 Until it occurs in your house.
#6 Politicians are everyone’s friend until the election. In reality until the police force becomes more effective and not a joke and until the court system slams the door, expect more of the same. Meanwhile keep those alarms on!!!

We have great new precinct leadership in Deputy Inspector Scott, and they do care. How about placing police in a seemingly vulnerable home – windows and lights open, house quiet, etc. Eventually they’ll hit the right house.

  • Cholent mit kugel

Perhaps the smells of cholent are attracting those robbers. Have cold deli on Shabbos day till this ugly situation blows over. Pass the mustard please…
