83 Year Old Man Shoved down Stairs in 770

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHI] — A drunk bochur, described as a “Tzfati”, pushed an 83-year-old man down a staircases in 770 on Motzai Shabbos. The incident began inside 770 at around 8:00pm when the drunken Tzfati, who was missing his shirt, grabbed the elderly man and shoved him down a flight of stairs.

A bystander called 911 and scores of cops responded along with a city ambulance who began treating the old man for his injuries. After getting a proper description of the perp, police went searching for him but couldn’t find him, yet they still filed a police report.

An eye witness said the Bochur, who was visibly intoxicated, shoved the old man down the stairs and when he came to rest on the landing proceeded to kick him.

After receiving treatment for close to an hour in an ambulance outside 770, the old man insisted he did not want to go to the hospital and went on his way.

that is SICK! heeellllooo is this the wake up call that there are some serious issues to be addressed here!?!?! or is something CHOS VSHOLOM worse going to have to happen?

  • excuses (here they come)

    Here come the Excuses!
    1 2 3 Let them ripe…

“he was drunk, he has the full right to do what he did”

“this one individual is crazy all the rest of them are not as crazy as him, so don’t blame him”

“what was the ”old man“ doing in 770, he must have started up with the Tzfati, I mean the Tzfati would not have done that Just because”

    “why write about this?”

    Etc…Etc…

  • Sholom Ber

Why do you think a Tzfassi maybe from a diffrent Yeshiva,
in all yeshivavas have Bochrim with YECHI yarmulkeh’s .
unless you have some thing against them

  • Levi new

Thanks for letting us know that you hat Tzfatim and woll do anything to get their name cursed out (in some comments)
I will never in any way try to defend this man, but whats the shayches to Tzfati?
As if an American bochur didnt do …. when he was dunk – im refering to two specific incidents, that I would rather not specify.

  • Joe the plumber.

Why do you need to describe the bocher as a “Tzfati”? This article (and website) is extremely biased. You could have written, a drunken bocher. There is no reason to spread hate!

  • Civilized

Normally I am against pressing charges on another jew. But this is different. I feel that someone who hurts another person must be taught that there are consequenses to his actions. in our community, unfortunatly, we dont have the ability to deal with such individuals. but we sure have a responsobility to hand in such an individual to the apropriate authorities. how else does one learn how to behave in sociaty? our melamdim and yeshivos can only be Mechanech their talmidim in spiritual matters, not how to be civilized.
if he were driving while intoxicated he’d have no excuse. he should have given his keys to someone to hold it for him. Adam Muad Liolam. if if he is not made aweare that there is a legal system amoungst humans, he will do it again.

PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED WITH RELIABLE, RESPONSIBLE AND DEPENDABLE TRUTHFUL INFORMATION.
HaShem Yishmor. Everyone should put this person in cherem until he gets major help.
    How horrificl disturbing

  • Mendy

Chanina and Yudel must join forces and send these idiots back to Tzfat as soon as possible. And the NYPD should use necessary force to constrain them for whatever they do. They are not Lubavitchers and should not be permitted to be by 770. And take down their stupid signs, too.

  • Yossi

    Binyomin sheyichye:
Why in the world do you always tend to post updates which will cause machloikes. Then you tell me that they’re “after your life”… I wonder why!
If it’s important to post this news update, then why the additional info of who it was…. or maybe you indeed have something against them…
By the way, the Bochur wasn’t a tzfati, he actually was never in tzfas. He is a BT from Ramat Aviv… get your facts streight b4 you bash…

  • baruch

tzfatim…feh feh…terrorists…a total disgrace — total yetzer hara — your parents wherever they are ashamed of you creeps…they have lost control of their kids…soon hopefully you will spend years in jail…I will see to it.

  • END THE TZFATI TERROR

to those of you asking this ‘binyomin’ and the website about his choise to identify this terrorist as a tzfati, let me ask you all this; when this site posts an articel informing us of a muggin this website identifys the attacker as a ‘male black’ or a ‘female hispanic’ etc. why should this be any different?

call them as you see them, a tzfati raised his hands to hit another jew inside 770, that is that.

  • att: all tzvatis!!!

go home we dont want you here! i had a tzvati hit my five year old they have know manners no respect for a human being. they are a disgrace to lubaivitch a disgrace to judaism.

Such a bocher I would say on him that he might as well be a Tzfati.

Why is it important to mention that he is a Tzfati (when this could have happened to anybody etc…).

First of all this does not happen to normal people (or in this case normal bocherim) if a person did do such a thibk then he’s not normal and might as well be a Tzfati (with the whole dress etc..). Yes you might find that a Bocher (sadly) may have lost a little control (and there is no excuse for that) and may push or shove another but to knock someone down (none the less a 83 year old man) and once down to viciously kick him continuously that only a viscous (cant even write person) Tzfati can do.
Let’s not pretend to be stupid and dumb, these types of stories of “the Tzfatis” beating people up (even sober) are not new.
All those so called “peace lovers” that are trying to protect and excuse (or blame this site for mentioning that he is a tzfati) also have an AGENDA, other wise they would be denouncing such behaver (as we see their problem is not with what the Tzfati did but with this web site for writing that he was a Tzfati).

A non Mishichist bocher (i think They call those Chabad Bocher) once throw a Pretzel at someone else at a farbragen. It was a very messy seen. Pretzels all over! can’t get that image out of my mind. ;)

  • civilized

its not about tzfatim. it is about an individual. just as if it were a ‘male black’ or ‘female hispanic’ it is not about all blacks and all hispanics. a crime was commited by a person. even the seven nohide laws include a justice system.

  • boruch ben tzvi (A H) hakohaine hoffing

I think its not right to describe the name “Tzfati” for this guy like “Sholom Ber” wrote. Enough is enough!

My friend there is something called CAUSE and EFFECT.
the cause come BEFORE the effect.

    Another thing:
Maybe this is their terroristic tactics, to come after anybody who is willing and able to write the TRUTH?
It’s called intimidation! (look it up).

Thank you CH.info for the TRUTH!

“Why do you need to describe the bocher as a “Tzfati”? This article (and website) is extremely biased.”

Since when is reporting the truth biased?
Taking the side of truth is now called “extremely biased” nice to know. CH.INFO should have sugar coted the story, maybe you could have even put added in to the story of how the old man first sucker pounced the Tzfati etc… that would have been fair and balanced.

I refer you to the following link…

number 1 if you cant controll yourself drinking “DONT DRINK AT ALL”

Number 2 if you still have a problam go see number 1…..

I, as a Crown Heights resident who has been raised here and is now raising B”H my own family don’t care whether hes a Tzfati of anything else (to me hes an Animal!).
I would like to know what this Animals name is and even see a picture of this Thing!

    He should be shamed!
    Shipped home!
    Etc…

Is there anybody in charge of these guys?
Is there anybody that will take any responsibility?
Will we let this guy just get away with this just so he can come back another day?
    What is going on here?!!!

Mesira! beatings! and all we can do is try to excuse them?

  • Mopish

“Tzfati” – this article is racist!
and this website is racist for allowing this to appear!
This individuals action were absolutely disgusting but it would have been equally disgusting if he were from France, Australia, Europe etc…. We don’t like it when the media portrays the religious Jew as the criminal. Why is it necessary or relevant to describe this despicable persons native city. Obviously there are racist motives which is to create hatred against ALL people from that city.
    Abhorrent!!!

  • R.L

people – they’re your fellow yidin!
why do you even post bad things about other jews?
what are we gaining from it?
just another piece of loshon hara?
and if you dont have something nice to say then please keep it to yourself.

  • how do drunk get into 770

Who is in charge of the alcohol in 770? Was this person of drinking age? If not, someone in 770 should answer about why alcohol is available to people under 21. Why wasn’t hatzalah called? The lashon hara about people from the holy city of Tzefat should stop.

  • change and hope

    terrorists,
    creeps,
    hooligans etc..

How dear you all call a person (another Jew) who beats the living daylight out of a 83 year old man, viciously throwing him down stairs and kicking him over and over, how dear you call him names!

    Shame on you!
The poor Tzfati, must have had a hard life!
You “people” (if I can call you that) should not be shunning this poor victim (the Tzfati) you must have Ahavas yisroel and take him in (to your home), he may see the light and change his way, there is hope still.

  • Jacob

Make diference if he is tzfati or ich veiss nicht… from Migdal ? Nein! he is just a sick boicher. it can happend in the best yeshives! I was in tsfas for 2 years and meet there wonderful boichrim. says that all tzfatim are terrorist, is the same thing to say that all boichrim of NY are addict, all black man is thief and all jews are greedy! this is XENOPHOBIA!!!

    I agree,
But this is that “something CHOS VSHOLOM worse” that HAS happened.

It has happened in the past and will continue in the future, [because] there are people from OUR community who find good use for these Thugs and will always back them (for they need them for their sick Agenda). We must kill the snake by taking off it’s head! the tail just keeps growing back (new punks come and go every day/year, so you get ride of a few here and there, the sad truth is there will always be new ones. so until we go after those that are “training”/sending them it a loosing battle.

if he wasnt a tzfati he probably would have learned something other than terrorism in yeshivah

“hurt the guy if he isnt wearing a yechi yamulka

  • check their visas

    Why weren’t Hatzalah called?

It’s good the cops came. Now the victim should prosecute. He pushed & kicked the old man? That’s despicable. These barbarians need to go back to their caves & get out of town. We don’t want them here. They only cause trouble & disturb the rest of us & they give serious, respectful Bochurim a bad name.

    Deport them now!

  • Stop the hate already

Such a nice tool this website was, but recently more and more you opt to post these divisive exagerated, partly false stories. I was there last night, the guy was drunk and its sad, but all your looking to do is blow up these anecdotal stories on the Israeli 770 bochurim.
There are so many nice stories highlighting the posotivity in lubavitch in CH and around the world, stress on that, you know your website reaches the masses and think twice.
You litarly made a story out of nothing here

  • Disgusted!!!

Everyone of u stupid people should pic up a sefer and learn something!!!!!

  • TO YOSSI

You seem to know very well who this bochur is. Have you contacted the authorities or a Beais Din, something? If not, shame on you!! Go back to your self righteous hole and shut up!!

This is not a bochur this is a beast!
These tzefatim should not be refered to as Lubavitch, Chabad, Bochur or ever frum. The Yeshivahs who are breading them do not deserve to have the name Tomchei Tememim associated with them.

What must it take until the Crown Heights community will stand up united and take care of this problem? How horrible must it get before action is taken? Aren’t there a majority of CH residents that are willing to take a stand? If you are passive about the problem, don’t complain about their behaivior and the results. You are allowing terrorists to take over CH. What the Rebbe said about fighting for your land in Eretz Yisroel also applies to Crown Heights!

  • Shimon

“& they give serious, respectful Bochurim a bad name.”

Exactly! So why do you think if one “Tzfaty” did something bad, all Tzfatim are bad???!!!

Do you guys know what “Stereoteyping” means?

I personally know many Tzfatim who are VERY nice guys, and have tremandous Ahavas Yisroel. More then you “American” -“Civilized” people!
How many times do “American” “Normal” bochurim get drunk in 770 and start fighting? I saw it more then once. Alright people. Get a life and stop hating your brothers

  • Another Concerned CH-er

If a boucher could not hold his liquor he should not be drinking weather your a tzifati or an american or english or french ect… it doesnt make a diffrence and didnt the rebbeh say that under 40 yrs old we should have more then lichaim’s and he wasnt talking about on a kiddish cup

  • ynaky

terrible! who was the old man?

if someone could do such a thing while drunk, it shows who he really is!

get rid of every tzfati now!

  • YeRight!

There is OBVIOUSLY a part to this storey that is “missing”!!!!

This reporter was NOT there and I guess it depends on who you ask will result in what storey you get (or want to get)
Does anyone really believe (unless, like the writer of this article, you want to) that an 83 year old can be “pushed” down an entire flight of stairs and then kicked would be able to just walk home???????? I think “es iz nisht azoi pushit”!

  • Journalist

Binyamin: Its not that youre biased against the tzfatim-they should be exposed for the degenerates they are- but its the story’s lack of substance that makes one sceptic of its authenticity.

  • interesting

I find it very interesting that with all these comments, not one person asked if the elderly gentleman is ok. Did he have someone to take care of him when he got home? Does he have medical insurance to pay for the treatment he may need as a result of this brutal attack? Is someone arranging to make sure he has food etc etc etc???

Most impotently WITNESSING THIS SAD EVENT UNFOLD DID YOU STOP THE ANIMAL FROM BEATING ON THE OLD MAN OR DID YOU DO WHAT ALL THE “PEACE LOVING” AHVAS YISROEL“ ”WHY FIGHT“ ”WERE ALL BROTHER“ PEOPLE DO AND JUST WATCH ANOTHER SHOW IN 770?

WERE ARE ALL OF THE ABOVE FOR THE ”BROTHER” GETTING BEATEN UP (YOU KNOW, THE VICTIM)?

  • BARUCH

why is everyone missing the main point:

    THE REBBE PROHIBBITED MASHKE DRINKING!

    PERIOD.

    HELLO!

  • Roses

Nichnas Yayin Yatza Sod. When a Yid gets drunk on Purim or Simchas Torah, usually, he’s tipsy, silly and unfortuantely probably gets sick. When anyone who pushes an 83-year old man down the steps when he’s drunk, this is a sign of his true character. There have been many yomim tovim, farbrengen, chasunos, etc.. over the decades in 770. This is the first aggressive result of drinking.
Whoever that bachur is – I don’t care where he comes from or what he’s called – should be thrown out of Crown Heights. I’m sorry, but he behaved no differently than l’havdil…What would have happened if a non-Jew threw this man down the steps? Please don’t protect criminal behavior.

  • DamAvodov

STRANGE! call 911 instead of hatzoloh? hatzloloh gets there much faster and is more effective!
did the “bystander” wanted to help the poor old man or make scene that would give fodder (that means animal feed, for all the illiterates regular reader of this site) to CH.info?!

I HAVE NO PATIENCE TO READ ALL THESE STUPID (SOME NOT SOOO STUPID) COMMENTS. BUT WITHOUT READING MOST OF THEM, I DID READ A FEW, ALL I CAN SAY IS WIT FRIENDS LIKE YOU WHO THE HELL NEEDS ENEMIES. THE FACT THAT YOU LABELED THIS DRUNKARD “TZFATTI” REEKS OF YOUR HATRED. SORRY TO TELL YOU THIS, BUT HE IS AS JEWISH (AT LEAST) AS YOU AND AS SUCH YOUR OBVIOUS DISLIKE OF HIM IS TOTALLY OUT OF ORDER. WHAT THIS BOCHUR DID IS INEXCUSABLE, BUT HE DID IT BECAUSE HE WAS DRUNK (AND STUPID) NOT BECAUSE HE WAS A “TSFATTI”!!!! OUR AMRERICAN BOYS, WHEN DRUNK (WHICH IS WRONG) CAN DO AND HAVE DONE SIMILAR DANGEROUS AND STUPID THINGS. STOP BEING SO BIGOTED. TRY TO REMEMBER THEY ARE AT LEAST AS JEWISH AS YOU AND ME.

With much respect and kovod, i am wondering what a bochur needs to acomplish before he is granted K’VUTZAH status, and come with the rest of the T’mimim from erets yisroel the the dalet amos of the rebbe,
ones we know that, we then would be able to determin how and when we get the oppurtunity and obligation to deport someone, i think maybe it could come a time that they could be sent back and loose their right to ever enter the USA, hey maybe send them to agri and get shipped back to mexico on the way back to the middle east.

  • ilove770

the sad reality is that despite what most of CH wants, the tzfasim aren’t going anywhere. they will keep coming. and this problem will only get worse. the only thing that will probably get everyone to wake up and realize that we have to stop the tzfasim once and for all will be for ch”v a true tragedy to take place (i don’t even want to say it). only then will people realize that the tzfasim are destroying CH and lubavitch.

    BS”D

Seems as if the word Tzfati has gone beyond the geographic location from which it issues to mean anyone who is extreme in his meshichist beliefs and will engage in extreme behavior to defend what he perceives to be any slight against these beliefs.

As Tzfas is an ir hakodesh and because indeed there are many decent, Chassidish bochurim and families in Tzfas even if we do not agree with some of their views, I think we need to refrain from using the term in this manner.

Hard for me to think of a replacement term, without resorting to mikveh dressing room language…..maybe meshiggist????
