Beis Rivkah Staff Gain Active Shooter Training
This afternoon, the students of Beis Rivkah’s Elementary and Head-start divisions were sent home early, while the staff-members stayed behind for a three-hour training seminar on the proper way to prepare for and respond to an active shooter situation.
The seminar was given over by two detectives from the NYPD’s SHIELD unit – an anti-terror taskforce.
The officers gave a detailed history on past school shootings, and outlined steps one should take to protect oneself and the children if such a situation were to arise, G-d forbid.
All of the school’s several hundred staff-members were present for the seminar, which was preceded by a hearty buffet lunch.

It made me kind of nervous as a teacher atBR not knowing what to do in case of an emergency situation like this. I’m glad the school partnered with NYPD to put a plan in place

Ummm, am I the only person on the comment thread that understands that this is an utter waste of time, and nothing more than an attempt by the authorities to “calm and allay the fears of the public”. Anyone who has so much as the slightest shred of common sense understands that the only way to deal with an active shooter is a “double tap to the head”. The facility in San Bernardino where the massacre took place had multiple active shooter drills…….. AND NO ONE ON SITE WITH A FIREARM!!! And we all know how things turned out over there…….. (Pretty much the same as in every other “gun free” zone – which, for all intensive purposes is the entire NYC…..). Stop wasting your time on ineffective stupidity. Vote the imbicil
