Zaki Tamir Responds, Rushed Hachtorah? Disconnected Vaad?

Following the announcement of the ‘Installation Ceremony’ for Rabbi Yosef Braun, questions have been raised about the rushed ceremony, and concerns were voiced about the Vaad disconnects, also highlighted was not enough finances raised for the Rabonim Salries. Zaki Tamir responded to some of these questions in a late Motzai Shabbos interview.

CHI: What do you have to say about Rabbi Avrohom Osdoba boycotting the Hachtorah?

ZT: I agree, he as a Rabbi has the right to challenge the Rabonim, but I am required to follow psak and to support it, and if there was an ikul I will support that to. I am currently trying to get Rabbi Osdoba to change his mind.

CHI: So what’s the rush? Don’t you have until Rosh Chodesh Adar to make the Hachtorah?

ZT: There is no rush, it is just a matter of getting it done, and now is a time that he [Braun] is available. There has been a lot of procrastinating and delays and I just want to get it done.

I spoke to Rabbi Rosenberg and he informed me that there is no new directives coming out from the Beis Din, and that there are no certain things, except that we have to make the hactorah.

CHI: One of the members of the Vaad, Yossi Hackner, told CHI that there has only been $50,000 raised for the Rabonim, yet on your blog you announced that over $200,000 was raised, which is correct?

ZT: We were able to secure much more than $200,000 in writing, and I am hoping to be able to sit down with [Yossi Hackner] in the future and get on the same page.

CHI: Was there a meeting where all the Vaad members attended and discussed when the Hachtorah should take place?

ZT: All important decisions are made with the concent of all the members of the Vaad.

Our conversation with Yossi Hackner sounded much different, he told us that he never knew about a ceremony on Sunday, and he never agreed to it, he added that this is the first he is hearing [from CHI] that there was enough money raised.

In a blog post by Tamir he wrote: “The Vaad Hakohol has a meeting scheduled for 2:30 pm, Sunday, 11Shvat. On the agenda: salaries of the Rabbonim.”

The post supports the accusation by Hackner that everything happening is not done in concert with one another.

ZT: We were able to secure much more than $200,000 in writing,

Ha ha ha, you know what, put me up for another $200,000 in writing.

“In writing” doesn’t put food on the table.

Until they get the “in writing” donations they will be paying the Rabbis with IOU checks.

    Now for the truth.

The truth is the money will be coming from government grants which are meant to help families in need. This was done in the past and the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council Inc. will continue to steal this money to push their agenda.

  • Explain Please!

ZT: There is no rush, it is just a matter of getting it done, and now is a time that he [Braun] is available. There has been a lot of procrastinating and delays and I just want to get it done.

“it is just a matter of getting it done, and now is a time that he [Braun] is available.”

    Whats that supposed to mean?
Isn’t he supposed to have been here a long time ago (had there been no issues with his smicha and simush)?

And whats going to happen after the Hachtorah, is he getting on the first flight out of here?

    This doesn’t make sense?

  • DISREGARDING THE WILL OF THE COMMUNITY

SO, RAABI BRAUN IS AVAILABLE NOW, AND THAT’S THE REASON THE COMMUNITY HAS TO HAVE HIM SHOVED DOWN OUE THROATS?

FROM NOW UNTIL ADAR HE’LL CERTAINLY BE AVAILABLE AGAIN. THIS IS A DISGUSTING AND LAME EXCUSE FOR RUSHING HIS HACHTORA BEFORE ANY INCRIMINATING EVIDENCE COMES TO LIGHT.

ZAKI, ARE YOU A LAWYER? OR ALSO A JUDGE AND JURY.
WHY ARE YOU RIGHT, AND PINNY KORF, YOEL KAHN, AVROHOM GERLITSKY, AND OTHER SIGNIFICANT CHASSIDIM WRONG?

AND WHY DO YOU NOT SHOW A SPECK OF RESPECT AND CONCERN RE: RAV OSDOBA’S POSITION? ARE YOU PERHAPS BEING — SHALL WE SAY “ONE-SIDED?

THE HACHTORA HAS NO PLACE BEING DONE IN SO HASTY A FASHION, AND AGAINST THE BETTER JUDGEMENT OF RAV OSDOBA, THE RESPECTED MASHPIUM, AND A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF THE COMMUNITY.

  • Boruch

I thought that Tamir is a misguided man. After all of this I change my mind. He is a sleazebag along with Rosenberg. They both like money. Enough said.

  • Empire Resident

Tamir said if there is an ikul, he will delay the hachtoro, so why don’t the vaad rabonei lubavitch beis din issue an ikul?

  • Crying Mother in Crown Heights

Make a hachtorah, rush it if necessary & it’s a done deal. When will we stop just complaining & DO SOMETHING!! This is a coup by these few corrupt people to completely rule our lives just like in Cuba or Venezuela or communist Russia (I include Tamir, he’s #1 right now & Braun as corrupt.)

Braun has nothing better to do: he is a Baal Machloykes, Sydney is dancing with delight that he’s gone. For G-d’s sake somebody get an ikkul. There must be 3 honest Rabbonim somewhere!

DO SOMETHING, I beg you, for the sake of the Rebbe & this community!! Don’t look at me, I’m useless & helpless. I’m a woman so i don’t have any say, but this corruption affects me the same as it affects you. And i can’t do anything about it.

  • Outofcontrol

You like how tamir uses “I” instead of “we” ? That is the most telling thing. A vaad of one.

  • moshe der g

    it is simple

the faster they make this crowning thenbraun is a muchzik juts like these criminals did lasttime when they told the judge nothing will change ifthere is an election … and then after the election they broke into the office by force to take over and by tuesday morning they were the muchsik in control

zaki knows this as a lawyer …….

  • THE JCC HIJACKED OUR COMMUNITY

THIS IS LUDICROUS, THE VAAD HAS OVERPOWERED THE RABBONIM – SINCE WHEN DID THEY HAVE SO MUCH POWER THAT THEY CAN DO THIS AND BY EXTENSION TAKE OVER THE COMMUNITY WITH A ONE SIDED ONE MINDED GROUP OF POEPLE ONLY INTERESTED IN THEIR OWN GAIN/LIVES.

ITS TIME FOR US TO START A NEW JCC MAKE IT IN 11225 START A NEW BEIS DIN AND IF DONE PROPERLY THEY WOULD EARN RESPECT WHICH IN TURN WOULD LEAD TO PEOPLE ACTUALLY LISTENING TO RABBONIM AND MAYBE SOME ORDER AND ACTUAL COMMUNITY WILL TAKE PLACE – THE SAME WAY THE BEIS DIN AND RABONIM ARE LOOKED AT AS A BIG JOKE NOW ONCE A NEW ONE IS STARTED PEOPLE HOPEFULLY WOULD EMBRACE THEM AND THE NEW RABONIM (WITH THE NEWLY ELECTED “ROV”) WOULD JUST CONTINUE TO LOOK LIKE A JOKE AND HOPEFULLY EVENTUALLY JUST FALL APART AND CEASE TO EXIST…… WHAT A DREAM!!!!!

  • Voice of Reason

There is an unconscionable amount of government funding allotted to the needy in our community, under the fiduciary care of the community council, which is siphoned away for individuals’ personal uses. There is almost no limit to the fraud taking place in that organization. A comprehensive audit of the Crown Heights Jewish ‘Community’ Council is needed to uncover the dirt taking place in our midst.

Why should so many individuals in our community be without a job when the government allocates funds specifically for job placement and career development programs? (Yes, the CHJCC does officially ‘offer’ such programs, but the amount invested in teachers and growth of the projects are comical in relation to what should be offered and compared to other communities’ programs. Anyone who has taken the CHJCC’s courses, as I have, knows exactly what I mean.)

Why is it that residents of our community find themselves travelling to Boro Park and Williamsburg’s community council to seek assistance with foodstamps and medicaid?

Where do all the government funds allocated for affordable housing in our community go?

Who has benefited from the ‘weatherization’ funds that have been given to our community council?

It is time our community wakes up and realizes that the CHJCC is meant to be nothing more than a steward for us, the residents of this community. They are not in charge of us; we should be in control of them.

We are literally being raped from much needed funds by people who are meant to help and protect us. And the most painful part of all this is that this is being perpetrated by fellow Jews who look like us!

We, as a community, must demand complete disclosure of the CHJCC (including independent audits of all expenditures).

When the right people begin benefiting from the much needed money, our community will begin to prosper. When less money is available for siphoning, there will be less politics within the CHJCC. The greedy thieves would join other institutions for their pillaging.

May our community be blessed (-trust me, we need all the blessings!).

  • Dear Rabbi Osdobo:

When is an individual required according to halacha to follow a plak din of a zablo that ruled “against” him?

Is it only when the “loosing” party is “convinced” and “satisfied” with the responces he gets from the beis din?

will he ever be “convinced” and “satisfied”? Is this a Joke? a looser is almost “never” satisfied. yet he is require according to halacha to follow the result…

  • Not over -til the fat lady sings

You have yaishev roish taking orders from an outcast in Borough Park and a PAID executive director more concerned with politics than services. It’s clear that the Yanky-Srully-Chanina faction have opened a can of worms with no bottom. In addition, when you have one Rav who shuts his eyes and shoots from the hip when he paskens and a second who cares ONLY about money, who cares whether the third is for real or not?
The fat lady (lady?) has sung.

  • mendel

i dont know the polotics in CH but is everyone trying to listen to a man who cant even clean the snow after a snow storm?(B”H i live on shlichus and not in CH)

  • The Fat Lady

I have been singing already for more than 16 1/2 years – when will you listen to my voice already?

The delusional Mishichistim-Mishugaim, who refuse to recognize reality, and insist on living in a dream world, have turned all of our lives into a nightmare.

It is time to put a stop to this sham show circus. Please turn the lights on and banish these snakes and scorpions from our midst.

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti DO IT ALREADY!

  • equal power

Now (after the elections), Rabbi Braun is one of the 3 Rabbonim on the C.H. Beis Din. He has equal standing and authority as Rabbi Osdobo & Rabbi Schwey. Nobody is forcing Rabbi Osdobo to sit with anyone.

THE SAME COMMUNITY WHO ELECTED HIM thereby empowering him as a chaver habeis din (1/3rd of the power of the beis din) – THE VERY SAME COMMUNITY elected Rabbi Bruan, giving him EQUAL say and power. If you choose not to want to sit with him, it’s your choice. But you have no power over the authority of Rabbi Braun.

  • never too late

it’s not too late. we can have a hachtara tonight with the participation of both sitting current members of the bait din present.

please urge both harav osdaba and harav shwei to put their differences aside and take leading part in the hachtara. for the sake of our children!

  • big turnout tonight

I predict there will be a large crowd at the Hachtara of Harav Broun.

the average person wants to see some balance on the Beis Din – not a stalemate. The zablo of 5 specialy chosen rabbonim went throght ALL of the arguments that were presented from all the fighting parties, and they came to a clear psak din: the election was 100% valid and the Hachtara needs to take place imidiatly.

we will all come and support the 3rd – new rov. let us give him a chance to give us a clear 1st have impression of himself without all the shmutz and slander.

    Moshiach Now!

    To #19
So your suggestion is to check out the shidduch (and background) under the chuppah?
    Before the smorgasboard or after?
Before the Erussin or before the Kiddushin?
Before the 1st brocha or after the 7th?

Maybe just before the breaking of the glass. That would be appropriate here. Zecher leChurban.

    Zol zein tzum Gittin.

  • concerned resident

the installation will be packed. most people are going to see the circus. it will be a show and the losers are us, the crown heights people.
how did this happen? the whole thing was a mekach tous. our fault is that we did not think. we should have new elections or even not. just put rabbi bogomilsky as the third rav and we have a fighting chance for peace. put braun and we are 10 steps back.
Where is the $$$$$$$ that CH receives from gov.? The community should ask for an accounting. So far no one has benefited form one cent. i am sure that CH has gotten some funds. where is it and who has benefitted. has anyone heard of anyone getting any help, benefits, or anything from the chjcc?
is yes please answer here so some people will know

  • GL

CAN WE ALL JUST GET ALONG. IF YOU DIDN’T VOTE YOU HAVE NO WORDS TO SAY AND especially words of hate, we are all JEWS and this is Hashems WORLD weather you like it or not.

    MASHIACH NOW

  • Fact

Zaki doesnt even know who I am yet. However, I will tell you a fact that has been verified, Zaki Tamir never takes any steps affecting the Vaad or beis din without consulting the rabbonim in advance. He is a man that shows everyone respect and NEVER SAYS ANYTHING BAD ABOUT ANYONE!. Zaki is helping the Crown Heights community in so many ways that would blow peoples mind away if you only knew. MAny people do know and are appreciative. Go up to Rabbi Osdaba and ask him, go over to Rabbi Osdaba and ask him! Zaki is a man with a heart of gold, he talks softly but carries a big stick he is a man of his word and he is a good guy to have on your side.
