Manchester Community Unites for ‘Latkes Ovent’

Once again this year, Beis Menachem of Manchester, UK, arranged a “Latkes Ovent” Chanuka Party for the whole Community.

The event began with a buffet lunch of Latkes, Salads and rolls with various fillings, a delicious Leek & Potato soup – and of course plenty of doughnuts.

Rabbi Yoel Niasoff put together a small boys’ choir, which sang Haneiros Halolu as well as some selected niggunim.

This was followed by a Rally for the children, run by bochrim from Yeshivas Lubavitch Manchester. After the Rally, the children produced some fantastic Chanuka themed artwork from sweets and other edible items, which they were able to take home to eat.

Rabbi Shmuel Cohen spoke to the adults on the meaning of Chanukah and the inyan of Hiddur Mitzva. This was followed by viewing one of the recent JEM video releases.

The finale of the event was the Children’s Chanukah Play, organized by Mrs. Chaviva Pink. Children aged 3-12 acted out the story of Chanukah with much humor.

Live music was provided by Chananya Niasoff.

The event was organized by Dovid and Chaviva Pink.
