American Camp Association Endorses CGI Staff Training

Merkos Suite 302, under the direction of Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, has launched a new initiative to support one of the Rebbe’s oldest mosdos, Camp Gan Israel.

The first stage of the initiative will include a comprehensive curriculum for all staff as well as a series of networking platforms for camp directors. “CGI International,” explains Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos suite 302, “seeks to support the worldwide networks of camps, as we have done for Hebrew Schools and CKids clubs. And this is just the beginning! Further courses are in development.”

On June 22nd-28th of Sivan a training day in Crown Heights will provide inspiration and direction for countless camp counselors, offering the opportunity to continue growing in leadership through various, in-depth online courses.

The American Camp Association, which establishes the industry standards for camps nationwide, has officially endorsed the online staff training courses.

Offered to over 500 CGI day and overnight camp counselors, head staff, and directors annually, the curriculum encompasses leadership, behavioral management, camper engagement, abuse prevention, and special needs campers. The courses are led by Rabbi Zalmy Kudan of training.myganisrael.com.

“Each course is designed to provide the tools for effective implementation. By focusing on what to say and what to do, we maximize the impact on the campers,” explains Rabbi Kudan.

The new staff training season kicks off yesterday Sunday, 11 Iyar, May 7 and will feature multiple dates for each live online course. Camp Gan Israel directors and staff can view the full schedule of courses at training.myganisrael.com or contact RabbiZalmy@myganisrael.com with questions.
