New York, NY — Downtown Manhattan has seen its share of glorious processions down the famed canyon of heroes. On Motzei Shabbos, March 10th, hundreds of Jews joined together to share in the joy and celebration of a Hachnosos Sefer Torah in the heart of New York’s financial district.

Over 500 participants escorted the Torah down Wall Street, past the New York Stock Exchange, to its new home in the new headquarters of Business Payment Systems. The Torah was dedicated in honor of Rabbi Yitzchak Gansburg, a beloved community leader.

According to Sam Chanin, CEO of Business Payment Systems, the rapidly expanding business recently moved into its new 50,000 square foot offices on 55 Broad Street, which also houses The Schneerson Center synagogue. “With the significant number of Jewish employees in our company and the thousands of other frum Jews working in the area, there is a desperate need for a synagogue,” said Chanin.

Mr. Jack Bloom, the company’s CFO, exclaimed, “This was history in the making. In my wildest dreams I never pictured a Siyum Sefer Torah on Wall Street.”

Mr. Chanin is well known for his charitable and philanthropic work in the community. His company runs a program in conjunction with The Schneerson Center, offering paying jobs to “kids-at-risk” and helping them make positive changes in their lives. “Over 150 children have gone through the program, with 95 ‘graduates’ currently working in our offices,” Chanin said. “It’s a place where they can get paid to be part of something.”

The program has been expanded with other companies, such as Northern Leasing Systems Inc. and Calpian, providing support and hiring graduates. A rabbi is employed to provide guidance and oversee a study program for the teens.

Chanin has plans to open a dozen additional Schneerson centers in popular metropolitan cities, in addition to the organization’s current 110 locations throughout the country.

Wall Street has been closed by the police ever since 9/11. I went to the hachnasos sefer torah and it was beautiful, but please keep it all true.

The center is for high populated area’s for example washington DC that has one chabad house when 3 is needed etc. Sam has the locations adding some chabadniks and renting some apartments is somthing that will speed up the process of having the rebbi’s presence throughout america.
