Which Rabbis Support Iran Deal?

News website i24’s main story at the time of this posting is that “hundreds of US rabbis voice support for Iran nuclear deal.” In an apparent bid to mislead their readers into believing that these “rabbis” are actually bona-fide Orthodox Jewish leaders, the headline is juxtaposed on top of a photo of the annual conference of Chabad rabbis in front of Lubavitch World Headquarters.

The Chabad movement is well-known for its commitment to advocating for Israel’s safety and security, and remains fiercely opposed to any deal that will allow terror-financing Iran Ayatollahs to achieve nuclear capabilities, skirt international sanctions and repatriate billions of dollars.

Our initial efforts to contact i24 News for comment were unsuccessful.

Yes, the picture is copyright, and I’m sure I24 obtained the rights before using it.

Slander has nothing to do with copyright. Could this be actionable as defamation? Possibly. I don’t know anything about Israeli defamation law, but in the USA groups can’t sue for collective defamation, but if a false statement is made about a small enough group then each individual in that group can sue. Even the 3000+ shluchim in the picture might be considered small enough for this purpose. Also Merkos could probably sue. But Israeli law might be different. It’s not worth it, though. There wouldn’t be any significant damages. An apology is the best you can get anyway, so settle for that.

To the great minds at i24 apparently anyone in a long beard and black suit and hat belongs to the self-appointed “Guardians Of The City”.

This is like taking a story about an antiwar letter signed by 300 left-wing Jesuit priests, and some dumb editor choosing to illustrate it with a photo of the semi-annual mass priestly blessing at the Western Wall, or with a photo of the Dalai Lama and his Tibetan priests. Of the thousands of rabbis in this picture, it is absolutely certain that not a single one supports the Iran deal.

Well in that case some editor with a clue must have come alonog and changed it again, because they’ve finally used an appropriate illustration. This picture is from Poland, not America, and the college these “rabbis” attended is in Germany, but they look exactly like the sort of “rabbis” who signed this letter.

just another perfect example and a reminder that you cannot believe anything..
Even when it seems to be so so authentic.
there is always yet another side to every story.
Too bad some people need to learn the hard way..

Let us not forget for a moment that there are a strong percentage of Jewish people( liberal leaning ones and others including those with the title of Rabbi) that support completely this deal with Iran in spite of what it might mean for the safety and welfare of their Jewish relations in Israel.
Nor do we look far in our recent history to find “Jews” like Rabbi Stephan J. wise and the Owners of the NEW YORK TIMES who deafied consistently Franklin Delano Roosevelt despite the known facts the FDR was a rabid anti-Semitic bigot and his actions helped to ensure the deaths of untold numbers of Jews in the concentration camps as he blocked the escape routes and rescue attempt to save European Jewry(including children) from the Nazi murder apparatus.
