Miami Beach Jewish Community Mourns Philanthropist

Chabad Lubavitch of Florida mourned the passing of Dr. Ira S. Barton – Israel Peretz ben Dov, OBM, a strong supporter of Mosdos Chabad in Miami Beach.

Dr. Barton had the Shul at Florida Lubavitch Headquarters named after his mother, Sandra Barton, OBM, and the shul at the Jewish Learning Center named after him.

Dr. Barton was a supporter of Lubavitch Educational Center in Florida, which serves over a thousand children, and was to be the Honoree at this year’s dinner.

His passing was unexpected as his Neshama left in his sleep.

Rabbi Abraham Korf, Head Shliach to the State of Florida, stressed at the funeral how Dr. Barton’s last years were devoted to Yiddishkeit and spreading it to others, and that this is a tremendous zechus.

  • The man who always had a smile

He was loved by everyone and he loved everyone as well. A big baal tzedaka and Oihev yisroel. There are many many temimim from Yeshiva Gedolah of Greater Miami who have been cared for by him personally. My heart broke when I found out. I miss him already.

Dr Barton you will be missed.
