New DVD Tells ‘Unknown’ Story of Hey Teves
In recent years, a greater number of Shluchim and Chassidim have been visible in New York on and around the time of Hey Teves. They fly in to spend the day at the Ohel and 770, while Anash communities around the world hold special Farbrengens. Yet perhaps because it involved such a painful episode, the tremendous milestone of Hey Teves has remained somewhat of an enigma for many members of Anash.
Few are aware that the Rebbe publicly shared much of the episode with Chassidim as the events leading up to Hey Teves unfolded, comparing it to Yud Tes Kislev, the Alter Rebbe’s imprisonment and release, on many occasions.
After a year of intense work, JEM completed a video in time for Hey Teves. The video will be shown at hundreds of Hey Teves Farbrengens and gatherings around the world.
JEM staff who researched the project discovered that although they considered themselves knowledgeable of the events, there was so much new information hidden in plain sight.
“We’re sure that almost every Chassid who watches this video will learn something new about the trial – and more importantly, the significance of the Rebbe’s victory today,” said JEM in a statement.

While Hey Teves is a truly victorious event, there is something that bothers me, maybe someone can help me out.
You see, the Rebbe’s biggest emphasis was Ahavas Yisroel. Yet, after the case was all done with, this broke down. I mean, among other things, the Rebbetzin and her sister stopped talking to each other.
Having a rift in my own family – when I think of this happening in the Rebbe’s family, leaves quite a bad impression in me.
