Philanthropist to Renovate Oholei Torah Gym

Yesterday, Thursday, Mr. Yosef Yitzchok Popack and Reb Mendel Levin met with a delegation of Oholei Torah principals, lead by Rabbis Yosef and Sholom Rosenfeld, at the Eastern Parkway Campus. A group of Talmidim also welcomed Mr. Popack and shared with him a Dver Torah.

After touring the facilities of the campus, Mr. Popack concentrated on the recreational facilities, an area that is in desperate need of renovations. Mr. Popack, who previously built the changing rooms and showers and greatly enhancing the swimming pool area, has now undertaken to renovate the gymnasium.

“Young children grow and have a great amount of energy, and this area is the best way to let out their energy in a most productive manner” said Mr. Popack.

Rabbi Yehoshua Lustig, principal, mentioned that he has seen the difference in the Talmidim when they have a proper outlet during recess.

Plans are being drawn up to make the gym a state-of-the-art facility, with a special focus on safety. This is just the latest project of renovations and expansions being undertaken by Oholei Torah.

Yosef Yitzchok and Batsheva Popack are staunch supporters and dear friends of Oholei Torah. They have shown their support in many major building projects in the past few years, including the most recent dedication of the Popack Kindergarten building in East Flatbush.

    It’s great chinuch.

  • The exchange

    OT: Please help us!!

    Popack: No problem

OT: Thanks now let me put my hands on your head

    Popack: OK whatever

  • Finally

This place needed a serious face-lift. Its nice that they are lucky to have a rich dude who gives a darn.

  • great initiative!!

    Yasher koach!
A big gym for adults in needed with space for exercise and sport games.
    Maybe the armory????

  • I suppose that....

If this donor says, “Use this money to renovate the gym,” then OT should of course take the money and do this.

BUT OT really needs more classrooms and more teachers! That seems to be a much more pressing need than a gym renovation (given that the gym IS useable as it is).
