Oholei Torah Announces Dinner Honorees

Educational Institute Oholei Torah of Crown Heights has announced the honorees for its upcoming 58th Annual Dinner, which will be held Tuesday, June 10 (12 Sivan).

The guests of Honor will be Rabbi Mendel and Channy B. Drizin, longtime friends of Oholei Torah and outstanding members of the Crown Heights community. The Drizins also are known as baalei chessed, who quietly support many local institutions that help needy families and young children. They are proud parents to Chaim, Motti, Dina (Cohen) and Dovid.

A special Tribute is being made for Mrs. Ida Ostrow, a former member of the Brooklyn Jewish Center, by her family. Mrs. Ostrow was raised directly across from 770, and lived in Crown Heights until the 1970s. The Ostrow Family has re-connected with the Center through the efforts of Rabbi Nosson Blumes. Recently, Mrs. Ostrow was interviewed of her memories, which can be seen in the video below.

This year’s Community Service Award will be presented to recently-elected Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams. A dear friend of the Crown Heights community, who previously served as our representative in the New York state senate.

Special Awards will be distributed to the many people who participated in the re-building of the East Flatbush Kindergarten Campus, which opened last year.

Rabbi Joseph Rosenfeld, Executive Director of Oholei Torah, congratulates all the honorees for their commitment to Oholei Torah. “As Oholei Torah enters into an era of expansion, we look forward to a most successful dinner event with the community’s support,” he said.
