Company Apologizes for Accidental ULY Shabbos Robo Call

A ‘robo-call’ advertising Lubavitcher Yeshivas Chinese Auction was supposed to happen on Motzai Shabbos but instead happened on Friday night, just an hour after Shabbos. Both the Yeshiva and the company apologized.

Ahead of its ’double header’ event – taking place tonight for men and Sunday for women – Lubavitcher Yeshiva prepared a ‘robo-call’, that was supposed to take place on Motzai Shabbos, reminding people about the event.

Instead, just an hour after Shabbos started, phones rang with the schools phone number coming up on the caller ID’s and a pre-recorded message about “tonight’s auction…” was played.

“We were in touch with the company before Shabbos to confirm that the call will go out as scheduled” said a school staff member, “the company told us that everything was set.”

A representative from the California based company, called CallFire, apologized saying that it was a mistake on their part and by some accident the wrong date was entered and the call went out a day early.

Two years ago Ten Yad had a issue when a robo call announcing their auction occurred on Shabbos as well.

  • Not 100% accurate

It was a mistake – no one doubts that. However – having used Call Fire extensively – the user sets the time and information – not Call Fire. Whoever from LYU set the message to – made the mistake – not Call Fire.

Apology is accepted but please be accurate when blaming others.

    • wrong you are

There is a screen shot of the right settings saved in their system. There was another technical difficulty so they called in and they helped change the settings. They changed the day to for absolutely no reason. They did apologize and that is accurate!
