As a pedestrian who has been almost hit the same way numerous times, it’s very obvious: He didn’t “see” because he didn’t LOOK! I can’t tell you how many cars come swinging around corners without any thought or pause for pedestrians at all. It’s disgusting.

run accross eastern parkway, ocean parkway……ANY STREET that is dark while you are all black in the dark and rain you might get hit by any vehicle..fact of life………not the driver’s fault…….y…..maybe should put refector stipes so someone can see you……nowhere in torah does it say to be irresponsible and create a hazzardou are a contributing factor.

  • almost got hit

I cross everyday with a baby it does not matter dark rain they drive without looking they turn and not let ANYONE cross because they have to get where there going no matter what you have the light to walk when a car is making a turn they are to slow down as they turn but they NEVER do jew or not i always wait till they turn for i know if i dont i will be next in the hospital or my baby will be DEAD please think of others in you car or not this will happen time and time again i see near misses all the time everybody is in a hurry they dont see anyone but themselves but in a car you can cause a persons death do you want this on your head? so use your head think before you act in or out of your car

  • HOPE THE DRIVER FACES CONSEQUENCES

THESE DRIVERS SIMPLY DO NOT LOOK FOR PEDESTRIANS OR EVEN BOTHER SLOWING DOWN BEFORE MAKING TURNS. WHEN YOU TURN SLOWLY AND SAFELY ON A RAINY NIGHT THERE IS NO REASON NOT TO ‘SEE’ A PEDESTRIAN. AT TIMES WHEN I SLOW DOWN TO MAKE A TURN SOME CRAZY DRIVER BEHIND ME BEEPS FRANTICALLY AND TRIES TO CUT ME OFF. THEY SIMPLY DON’T KNOW SEEM TO GET IT THAT PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO CROSS THE STREET WITHOUT BEING INJURED.

  • Where-s the accountability?

This will only stop when the police get their act together and people see that it will not be tolerated. Unfortunately, lives are rated cheaply here by the powers that be.

  • to shloimy l. (#1 and #6)

If you’re driving, you need to watch where you are going. If you are turning into a crosswalk, you need make sure no one is crossing the street. If it’s dark and it’s raining you need be even more careful. This driver didn’t look, and he hit someone. Yes, he is at fault.

Why do you insist on blaming the victim, who did nothing wrong? Maybe you were the one driving and this is your way of making yourself feel better…

#8….and, where is your accountability?….HUH?……….play innocent, dress in black from head to toe…walk out into traffic moving at least 30 mph…..and, squish…..you are mulch……..the same as girls pushing the baby carrage from between cars into kingston avenue traffic to get to the pizza or candy store or whereever……….where is your accountability?

  • the danegerous right turn

yup in broad daylight my children and i have almost been runover countless times the driver wants to catch his green and make that right turn… once the police was standing on the corner as it happened and did nothingi had to grab my child so fast and hard that her shoulder came out of her socket. another time when i reached the corner in safety i was shaking and crying there was a cop in a car right there who watched the scene and said “sorry i cant chase him im not sure what kind of vehicle it was”… and when i am the one behind the wheel i ALWAYS stop for pedestrians crossing and ALWAYS get beeped..go figure ppl r crazy…and dont think city buses r more careful cuz they r experts at turning the corner on top of ur head (and baby carriage)
